Whimsical Wonders

Initially, I began Whimsical Wonders for a project based on Adobe Creative Cloud. The first two iterations were typography based and the final I was able to use images and promote a fictional event--mine titled Whimsical Wonders. I designed a fantastical poster in the theme of an enchanted storybook coming to life. I wore my royal dress costume on my campus woods trail and self-timed photos on my phone, using one of the images as a key focus of the poster. Similar to the Wizard of Oz, I played with the idea of bringing color into the world, the idea of intersecting the dullness of reality and vibrance of fantasy and imagination. I mixed grayscale and colored imagery, animals and mythical creatures. Atop the poster peeks a bit of the story I wrote for myself under the ripped cover image. The type weaves in between the trees and grass of the cover, while a golden title shines among the center top.

Additionally, I did another rendition of Whimsical Wonders in a painting, which has become my trademark. The painting features the same image of myself in the forest on a page of a storybook. I kept the idea of fantasy intertwining with reality and had creatures coming out the storybook and painting itself, including a squirrel, a cut out painted paper butterfly, and small vine.
